Te Ariki Nui is a world famous charter boat with many world records and an enviable history of being the top New Zealand Marlin and swordfish boat over multiple seasons.
Te Ariki Nui is the perfect vessel to take you on your ‘once in a lifetime’ offshore fishing adventure to the world famous ‘Three Kings’ and other legendary New Zealand fisheries.
He (Te Ariki Nui means Paramount Chief or Big Chief above all others) is a 58ft Salthouse built for the infamous Bill Hall by Robertson Boat Builders. Bill absolutely loved this boat and the time he spent on it as does the new owner/skipper Andrew Grant.
Bill took Nui to Cairns in Australia where they caught many huge Black Marlin on lures instead of the live baits commonly used by the locals there. The catch rate there was very high and Blill with Nui out-fished most other boats there.
He also ventured up through the Kermadec Islands and to Tonga for more exciting fishing.
With a huge tuna tower, Te Ariki Nui gives unrivalled visibility for spotting marlin, tuna, whales and workups and from both close and great distances. This alone puts her on the fish time and time again. It truly sets her apart in the hunt for New Zealand’s massive Blue Marlin as you can spot the floating debris that host Mahimahi and the exotic Blue Marlin among others from great distances.
Couple that to her ability to go extra long range, famous marlin enticing characteristics and a skilled team of fishing experts make her an outstanding game boat for all types of sports fishing. She is one of a few boats licensed to take charters all around the country including the Three King Islands.
Customer Feedback on Te Ariki Nui
This beautiful spacious boat is made for deep sea fishing. The vessel is well maintained and very comfortable for overnight expeditions. Fishing the game fishing meca Whangaroa with an experienced skipper and deckhand your sure to have an exciting experience. On a recent trip we fished in difficult conditions, the boat felt very safe and the fishing was good catching a yellowfin tuna, a mahi-mahi finished off with a mako shark.
