Trip Report - Three Kings Charter

Te Ariki Nui – 7th to 11th March 2026
Well what an epic trip to the Three Kings once again. It was the kingfish that were the stars of the show with some insane fishing. We could have kept going and going if we didn’t have weather creeping up on us the way it did. With kingfish up to 39kg these fish really tested the crew. Everywhere we went, the greenback beasts ate everything we threw at them. Even picking out a few nice ones on top water arouns the islands.
Bottomfishing was plentiful with more then enough Hapuka, Bass and bluenose for the guys to take home for friends ans family to enjoy!
Yellowfin are plentiful once again with the lads picking out 7 yellowfin including a nice one around 45kg.
The swords were out to disappoint this week. We found ourselves amongst the hottest 4 hours of fishing we have had all year with a quick session deep dropping at the end of a day. We had 4 bites and dropped 3 swords. Absolutely painful but were treated to some acrobatics from one fish close to the boat but we’ll be back!

Trip Report - Three Kings Charter

Te Ariki Nui – 28th February to 5th March 2026
 Another World Class Week away!!!
It was absolute scenes all week this week for this group of Westies from Auckland and even though we had an extra big moon, it seemed everything bit its head off!
Kingfish on the banks are still firing hard with all of the boys securing 30kg PBs in the first half a day until their arms were stretched out till the max! Absolute madness!
Bottom fish were a little bit trickier to get in to with some testing conditions and huge tides this week but the lads still locked in a real good haul of Bass, Bluenose, XXL Hapuka and Bluenose.
Swordys are thick at the moment and the proof is in the pudding there with a bait put down on a new spot and bit with in minutes! The fight wasnt so quick with but almost 4 hours on the rod our angler sealed the deal on a 200kg model!
A over night run down the west coast did the damage on the striped marlin with the lads totaling 4 stripeys including one monster that was easily well over 150kg.
Congratulations to all on board for one hell of a trip!

Trip Report - Three Kings Charter

Te Ariki Nui – 21st to 26th February 2026
Back from another cracker week at the kings with this group from Auckland.
Kingfish- The big hogs are starting to come back on the bite hard after a tough few weeks with 30kg + models every drift almost and a couple up in the high 30s.
All of the boys ticking off PBs and getting a good stretching!
Wreckfish – Hapuka and Bass were in abundance with some great fish in the mix. No huge bass for the lads this week but a great feed none the less.
Plenty of Bluenose thrown in the mix for the lads to take home.
Marlin – what a tough week for us with these. With plenty of boats up for the nationals, it seemed we just drove around the fish.
Nothing for us this week apart from a couple of cheeky bites but the fish sre still in good numbers
Swordfish – the star of this weeks show! A huge congrats to Ben for his monster he wrangled up in under an hour.
A great week away for this group with some exciting action.

Trip Report - Three Kings Charter

Te Ariki Nui – 7th to 12th February 2026
Another world class trip!!!
If you have been following along our stories here on Facebook and Instagram you’ll see how insane
this week was that we have treated our guests from Whanganui to.
From the 3 pack attacks of marlin, to multi hook ups of Tuna and all through the usual monster Kingfish and Bass, the Three Kings really turned it on for these full time fishing frothers. Super epic group that were excited right through to the bell ringer Yellowfin im the last couple of hours im the dark.
Some seriously great times were had this week.
The pictures speak for them selves with this one I think!
Huge thanks to Shimano Fishing New Zealand for the gear that didn’t miss a beat this week, Simrad Yachting for the electronics in Te Ariki Nui, Bonze Lures for the lures that do the damage, Just Another Fisherman for keeping Kale and myself clothed and Varivas New Zealand for the leaders were can really swing on.

MV Pelagic – 28th January 2026
Congrats to Levi on landing this superb marlin on MV Pelagic. A real family affair with Dad Matt and
brothers Trey plus Zac giving plenty of encouragement and banter.
We’ve landed marlin on each of our last three charters plus caught at minimum tuna but also mahimahi, yellowfin and spearfish on recent trips.

Trip Report - Shared Three Kings Charter

Te Ariki Nui – 16th to 21st January 2026
What an absolute week of chaos we’ve had for these lads on this shared charter this week. It was always going to be a challenge to run with the forecast we had with safety being the main priority but we made it happen with great results!
Luckily the first couple of days were stunners so a quick visit to the Three Kings was on the cards and we managed to cram a action packed day in. The lads got up close and personal with some big Kingys, monster Bass and some tasty bluenose to bring home. Its always hard to make dreams come true in one day but we did a bloody good job i recon.
With heavy easierlies on their way and rumors of a good patch of marlin down the coast, the decision was made to head south. A quick stop at Cape Maria Van Diemen saw a nice haul of far north moochers for the bin on the way past. The big trip down the coast for the next day proved its worth with a treble of Marlin. Something not many people get to experience at all! All up the boys landing 3 Marlin from 5 bites with 2 tagged and one coming home for a good smoking.
With a good bounty of fish, and an improving forecast, we made the adventure back over to the other coast for a sword drop which was a cool mission on its own. (Not many charters you can be landing Marlin on the west coast and catching swords on the east coast the very next day) and Catch a sword we did. Theres a very good sign there’s sea monsters bellow when you get as many bites as we did in a short time. Managing pluck out a nice eater for the boys at the end of the day to wrap it up!
Rain hail or shine, we’ll do our best to make it work as long as it’s safe to do so and the results speak for themselves.

Trip Report - Three Kings Charter

This truely was the trip of a lifetime for these boys from Aucklands North Shore From unreal kingfish bites with non stop action, some insane bottom fishing to the epic game fishing, this triip had it all. Finishing the trip with 3 Marlin from 4 bites, a close call with a swordfish and a really nice Big Eye tuna, there was no shortage of action and absolutely perfect weather to go with it!
